A family systems therapist is interested
in exploring life’s challenges within the context of family
relationships. One goal in therapy is to identify the underlying
dynamics in a relationship that result in an individual's automatic responses and heightened anxiety. The anxiety
is then expressed in physical, emotional, or social symptoms. The
therapist’s own effort at maintaining objectivity and emotional
neutrality offers the individual, family, or couple, the opportunity to
explore thoughts and feelings and to recognize one's reciprocal
contribution in any relationship. Understanding how one functions in a
relationship allows options and the possibility that automatic
responses can be decreased over time. Family Systems therapy is offered
to those seeking short or longer term therapy. Dr. Paul also provides
personal Bowen coaching for those wishing to explore “unresolved
emotional attachments” to one’s family of origin. Dr. Paul is an AAMFT approved supervisor, offering reduced rates to trainees and interns for supervision or therapy. Insurance accepted. For more information, go to: www.therapistfinder.com
