| SUSAN SWARTZ, M.B.A., M.A., MFT Marriage & Family Therapist (MFC 42894) 990 Highland Drive Solana Beach, CA 92075 (across from the Del Mar racetrack) (858) 356-8003 • E-mail me here www.refindlove.com I am a therapist because I am grateful to therapy. Therapy saved me. I was, for the first 30 years of my life, imprisoned by sadness, fear, and an inescapable sense that I had somehow failed. | ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What had really happened was that I had been raised by parents who were hurting and broken in their own ways, who didn’t know how to be happy. I absorbed their environment of sadness, frustration, and despair in an especially toxic way—the way all children absorb it—as an internalized certainty that there was something wrong with me. Although I went on to achieve a good deal of success as an adult, there was always this gnawing emptiness inside me, this consuming fear, that I would never be happy, never be whole, never be loved. Therapy changed all that. Therapy showed me a way to begin living the life I had imagined was possible. I am a therapist because I don’t want anyone to have to spend one more minute in that dark, bleak place where I spent so many years. I was fortunate to find a way out, and I would like to help others find a way out, too. I offer individual, couple's, and group therapy. I work with adults and teens. |
